Memorial Day weekend had us celebrating not only the holiday but also the start of the summer parties. And what better way to celebrate than on a brand new patio…my buddy Sonya and her husband Don recently had it put in and we were honored to be invited to the first party and what a paryt it was! They have a gigantean back yard so as the adults huddled underneath table umbrella’s and tried to stay cool, the kids took over the back yard. Don had made a huge slip ‘n slide and the heat eventually had some of the adults sliding down the yard with the kids. It sure made for an entertaining night!

And her son Adam…”Look Momma, I’m peeing”…leave it to a boy to add the gross factor to anything.

It’s the Matt Hatter sporting a rather different “hat” this time. Have no fear, he still brought along his famous Amos hat.
The volley ball game rounded out the night for us. (There was also a bonfire but we left before any “schmellows” were roasted.) Thankfully my camera provides me with the perfect excuse to sit out on any contact sports…I’m sorry I can’t play AND take pictures and I know you want this documented to it’s fullest! K-K is taking a photography course this summer as part of her college credits and she took the picture below…great job, my K-K!
This post wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the little guy below…his name is Mason and I think he is one of the cutest little guy’s I’ve ever met! He wanted to be included in the volley ball game and since there wasn’t much volley happening anyway, they stopped for a few minutes to let Mason “join in” the fun. After Matt had put him back on the ground and he was walking away, he looked down, spotted Matt’s Amos hat and with a look like he had just found a pot of gold, snatched that puppy right up and off he ran with it…I about peed myself laughing at the whole ordeal…he had no idea whose hat he had just taken and that made it all the more funny!! To make it better, he ran over to the playhouse, climbed the steps and threw the hat inside…he had found himself a treasure to be hidden! He eventually lost his treasure to the Matt Hatter who doesn’t part with a hat easily…even if you’re cute!
And that concludes the first post for the 2011 Summer Party season…get ready for more adventures this summer from Me and Him!
